About This Event
Pop-Up Jamul 2026 brought a small group of nomads to a beautiful private mountain property about 30 minutes outside San Diego from January 20 through February 20.
Caleb first developed a relationship with the property and its hosts through previous work with Hipcamp in 2025. The roughly 150-acre property includes an 18-hole disc golf course, bathroom, shower, water, and trash disposal, with sweeping mountain views — including the lights of Tijuana visible in the distance at night.
Our group generally ranged from about three to eight campers, with the cost divided equally among everyone staying at the Pop-Up and averaging around $10 per night.
Jamul became one of our most activity-filled Pop-Ups. We hosted game nights, introduced people to disc golf, set up outdoor movie nights with a projector under an oak tree, built out Kitty City, and hosted the two-day Cambio Olympics featuring physical games, lawn games, board games, card games, and beginner-friendly disc golf.
The stay also strengthened a long-term relationship with landowners we trust, giving Pop-Up Nomads another host relationship and property we would be excited to return to.

The Pop-Up camp itself was for vetted Pop-Up Nomads campers. The separate Cambio Olympics event was open to the public.
Event Recap
Jamul combined one of our most beautiful host properties with one of our most active months of programming. We introduced new people to disc golf, projected movies under an oak tree, expanded Kitty City, and hosted the Cambio Olympics. Just as important, the stay deepened a relationship with landowners we first met through Hipcamp work in 2025 and who are now happy to recommend us to future hosts.
