LANDOWNERS · CAMPGROUNDS · HIPCAMP HOSTS

Have room for a few nomads?

Pop-Up Nomads brings small groups of van lifers and nomads together for shared camping experiences across the country. We’re always looking to connect with landowners interested in longer group stays, shoulder-season bookings, and welcoming our traveling community.

Why Host Pop-Up Nomads?

We travel together, stay a little longer, and build relationships with the places that welcome us. Here’s what makes hosting our group different from a typical camping reservation.

Longer Stays

Many of our stays last a week or longer, with some extending for weeks or even months.

Group Bookings

We organize group stays with multiple vehicles, coordinating directly with landowners to arrange shared camping spaces.

Personally Vetted Campers

We’ve already met everyone who camps with us in person. We never use private group camps to meet new members for the first time.

Self-Sufficient Rigs

Our rigs have their own solar power systems, so we don’t typically need electrical hookups.

Shoulder Season Stays

We migrate with the seasons and often look for stays outside peak camping periods, when properties may have extra availability.

Returning Campers

We follow seasonal migration routes and love returning to properties where we’ve developed great relationships.

Community Included

We bring our own games, group activities, and even a pop-up communal gathering space when one isn’t already available.

Have extra space during the slower season?

Our travels follow the seasons, which means we’re often looking for group camping opportunities outside busy summer weekends and holiday periods. We especially love finding places where we can settle in for a while, enjoy the surrounding area, and build a relationship with the people who host us.

Whether you have a campground with open sites, a private group camping area, or unused space on your property, we’d love to hear what you have available and when.

For campgrounds and Hipcamp hosts across the United States, shoulder-season campground bookings and extended-stay group camping can be a natural fit. We’re interested in off-season camping opportunities and group camping on private land—not promises of occupancy or a set booking schedule.

What Makes a Great Pop-Up Location?

We don’t need a luxury campground. Most of us spend plenty of time camping on public land with very few amenities. But when we’re booking a private space for a group, there are a few things that make a location especially great for living and connecting together.

01 · OUR STARTING POINT

The Essentials

Our starting point is pretty simple:

  • Bathroom access

  • Two-wheel-drive vehicle access

  • Enough room for approximately 3–8 rigs

These are the core things we typically look for in a private group camping location.

02 · OPTIONAL COMFORTS

The Practical Comforts

A few additional amenities can make an extended stay even more comfortable:

  • Good solar exposure

  • Potable water

  • Trash and recycling disposal

  • Showers

None of these are necessarily dealbreakers. Our community is accustomed to self-sufficient travel, and many of our rigs are equipped for extended off-grid stays.

03 · SPACE TO CONNECT

The Community Features

The best group camping locations strike a balance between privacy and connection.

Ideally, individual rigs have enough room for their own space and routines, with a shared area where people can naturally gather for meals, games, campfires, and hanging out.

Existing picnic tables, covered areas, or games are wonderful bonuses, but we can also bring our own communal setup.

04 · A WONDERFUL BONUS

The Ideal Setting

The deeper in nature, the better.

We tend to gravitate toward quiet, beautiful places—forests, rivers, lakes, meadows, coastlines, and other natural settings where people can spend time outdoors.

The setting doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes a quiet piece of land with a little room to spread out is exactly what we’re looking for.

How Does Hosting a Pop-Up Work?

1. Tell Us About Your Property

Share your general location, available space, amenities, and the times of year you might be interested in welcoming a group.

2. We Explore the Fit

We look at our upcoming routes, possible dates, vehicle capacity, property guidelines, and affordable group booking arrangements.

3. We Arrange the Stay

When something works for both sides, we coordinate a paid group booking and communicate the practical details ahead of arrival.

4. We Bring the Community

Our campers arrive as an established group. We enjoy our independent spaces while creating opportunities to connect through games, dinners, hikes, and other optional activities.

Always invited, never expected.

Our gatherings are designed to foster connection without requiring everyone to participate in every activity. Join what sounds good, and keep the time and space you need for yourself.

Hi, we’re Caleb & Jayna.

We met while traveling full-time and started Pop-Up Nomads to make it easier for independent travelers to find community along the way.

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time scouting campsites, organizing shared stays, and getting to know landowners across the country. Some of our favorite places have become places we return to again and again.

We’re always looking for new places and new relationships that might be a great fit for our community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pay to camp on private land?

Yes. We work directly with landowners and campground operators to arrange affordable paid group stays. Each arrangement depends on the property, dates, and needs of the group.

Do you need RV hookups?

Generally, no. Our rigs are self-sufficient and equipped with their own solar power systems. Bathroom access and basic camping logistics are still important.

Do I need an existing group campsite or communal area?

Not necessarily. We can bring our own communal gathering setup, games, and activities. Enough room for campers to spread out and spend time together is often more important.

How do you choose who camps with your group?

Everyone who camps with us has already met us in person. We don’t use private Pop-Up campgrounds as first-time meeting locations for new members.

Do you only book during the summer?

No. We travel seasonally and are especially interested in longer stays and opportunities during shoulder seasons.

Can I get in touch even if my property isn’t on your current route?

Absolutely. We’re always interested in developing relationships with landowners around the country, even if we don’t currently have a stay planned in their area.
